Objective:
The ERC Consolidator Grant supports outstanding researchers who are in the process of consolidating their own independent research team or program. Applicants must already demonstrate research independence.

Funding Scope:

• Standard Grant: Up to €2,000,000 for a period of 5 years (adjusted proportionally for shorter projects).

• Additional Funding: Up to €1,000,000 may be requested for specific eligible costs (e.g., start-up, major equipment, fieldwork, facility access).

• Exception: Up to €2,000,000 additional funding is available for PIs relocating to the EU or an Associated Country from outside.

Both the main grant and additional funding will be evaluated during the assessment process.

Eligibility – Principal Investigator Profile:

• Must have successfully defended their first PhD between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2018 (i.e., 7–12 years before 1 January 2026).

• Extensions to the eligibility window may be granted in specific, well-documented cases (e.g., parental leave, military service).
