Proposal Submission

OSCARS is opening the 2nd of its cycle of 2 Open Calls. This call will remain open for proposal submission for a period of sixty days. All proposals must be submitted using the online application form through the OSCARS grants platform and confirmed with a timestamped, Submission Receipt email to the email address registered at the time of submitting the proposal. Any proposals not confirmed with a timestamped, Submission Receipt email will not be accepted.

We ask applicants to indicate if they have submitted the same or a similar proposal to the OSCARS 1st Open Call. If so, they are asked to shortly summarise the main changes introduced.

Who can receive financial support?

The financial support provided through OSCARS is open to Research Infrastructures (RIs), Universities, Institutes, SMEs and large companies, and to consortia as well as individual researchers. Third parties receiving financial support are not subject to the rules on eligibility for funding provided for in Article 23 “Legal entities eligible for funding” of Regulation 2021/695 of the European Parliament and of the Council of the 28th of April 2021 establishing Horizon Europe.

Open Call Topics

The aim of the call is to support researchers developing or engaging in Open Data Research, conducting science projects that facilitate and foster sharing research data and results based on FAIR principles. Proposals that develop and/or make available services or tools (software; hardware; middleware; protocols; standards; benchmarks; documentation and training/mentoring materials; activities and resources), which enable Open Research in a field and encourage open science practice based on FAIR principles, are also eligible. As the 1st Open Call supported a large number of the latter type of project, we especially welcome applications that make use of existing FAIR data objects or services from one domain (or multiple domains) to address a specific scientific question, in the expectation of producing new scientific results by the end of the project. We are keen to maximize the impact of our funding by supporting a diverse range of innovative projects from different communities and organisations. High quality applications by organisations that have not received funding in the 1st OSCARS Open Call, for subjects distinct from those previously supported, will therefore be prioritised in the 2nd Open Call.
