Strategic Innovation Open Call

The EIT Urban Mobility Strategic Innovation Open Call invites European innovators to submit proposals that accelerate the deployment of high-impact solutions addressing critical urban mobility challenges. The programme targets ambitious, market-relevant projects that solve concrete problems faced by cities, public authorities, and mobility providers, with a strong emphasis on de-risking development and enabling large-scale, European-wide deployment. Collaboration across the EIT Knowledge Triangle—education, research, and business—together with active participation from cities, is a core requirement.

The call focuses on five strategic sectors with high potential for European innovation and impact: urban logistics, public transport, mobility data management, transport electrification and alternative fuels, and health and mobility. In the future, specific thematic priorities may be added to address emerging market needs or failures. A total of €60 million is allocated for 2026–2028, with individual projects eligible for up to €2 million, covering a maximum of 65% of eligible costs and requiring at least 35% co-funding.

Applicants must form multi-beneficiary consortia, including at least two independent entities from two different EU Member States or Horizon Europe–associated countries. Proposals must be submitted via the EIT Urban Mobility NetSuite platform, and organisations new to the system must complete a Partner Information Form. The evaluation consists of a two-stage process: expert review followed by panel hearings and final portfolio selection. Multiple cut-off dates apply from September 2025 through 2027.

Comprehensive guidance—manuals, templates, KPI lists, IP guidelines, and webinar recordings—is available through EIT Urban Mobility’s Mobility Innovators platform, where applicants can also connect with potential partners.
