2026 calls – LIFE Programme

The European Commission has opened three major two-stage LIFE Programme calls for 2026 under the Strategic Projects scheme, supporting the large-scale implementation of environmental, climate, and biodiversity strategies across Europe.

The LIFE-2026-STRAT-NAT-SNAP call (Strategic Nature Projects – SNAP) supports projects implementing EU nature and biodiversity policies, including the Birds and Habitats Directives, Natura 2000 network management, and national biodiversity strategies. The aim is to mobilise coordinated funding and stakeholder engagement for long-term ecosystem restoration and conservation actions.

The LIFE-2026-STRAT-CLIMA-SIP call (Strategic Integrated Projects – Climate) focuses on implementing national, regional, or local climate and energy strategies. Supported projects may address climate change mitigation, adaptation, greenhouse gas reduction, resilience building, and the transition toward climate neutrality in line with EU climate objectives.

The LIFE-2026-STRAT-ENV-SIP call (Strategic Integrated Projects – Environment) targets the implementation of environmental legislation and action plans in areas such as circular economy, waste management, water protection, air quality, and pollution reduction. The projects are expected to deliver systemic environmental improvements through coordinated, large-scale approaches.

All three calls follow a two-stage submission process under the LIFE Programme and are designed to support integrated, high-impact initiatives involving public authorities and multiple stakeholders across sectors. Full call details and application documents are available through the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
