Biotech Call for Network Projects

This international funding call aims to promote collaboration in biotechnology between participating countries under the Eureka Network. Projects must focus on developing innovative biotech products, processes, or services with clear commercial potential.

The call supports small, well-structured projects with a strong implementation plan and emphasizes balanced international consortia, where each partner contributes significant value. Each country funds its own participants.

Scope and Topics

Eligible projects should demonstrate innovation in biotechnology fields such as:

  • Medicine, pharmaceuticals, and life sciences
  • Bioinformatics and AI in biotech
  • Biomanufacturing and sustainable production
  • Advanced therapies (e.g. cancer treatments, mRNA vaccines, microbiome-based solutions)
  • Agricultural and veterinary biotechnology
  • Diagnostics and biosensing technologies

Eligibility Requirements

  • Projects must involve at least two independent organisations from two different participating countries
  • The project must be civilian and market-oriented
  • No single partner or country may exceed 70% of the total budget
  • Partners from non-participating countries may join if they secure their own funding

Timeline

  • Call opens: 31 March 2026
  • Deadline: 25 September 2026
  • National funding decisions: by Q1 2027
  • Project start: Q2 2027

Application Process

Applicants must submit a joint proposal via the Eureka platform, including a project plan, partner details, and required documents. Successful projects receive a Eureka label, followed by national funding decisions.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals are assessed based on:

  • Impact (market potential, value creation, competitiveness)
  • Excellence (innovation, scientific quality, technical feasibility)
  • Implementation quality (consortium strength, planning, cost structure)
  • Overall assessment by experts
