ESA Technology Broker Program

The ESA Tech Broker programme, implemented in Hungary by Design Terminal in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA), is an innovation initiative designed to connect space and non-space industries through technology transfer. Its main goal is to help companies develop new products, services, or processes by applying advanced space technologies to terrestrial challenges, or by adapting non-space innovations for use in the space sector.

The programme focuses on building collaborative projects between partners, typically involving a space-sector technology provider and a company from another industry that can benefit from that technology. This cross-sector cooperation allows businesses to access cutting-edge solutions, accelerate innovation, and improve their competitiveness while opening up new market opportunities.

It is open to a wide range of participants, including startups, SMEs, and larger companies from almost any industry, since space technologies can be applied across many sectors. The initiative is part of ESA’s broader effort to strengthen the European innovation ecosystem and maximize the commercial use of space-related knowledge and technologies.

In addition to financial support, participants benefit from professional mentoring, technical expertise, and access to a strong international network, helping them validate both the technical feasibility and business potential of their ideas.

Overall, the ESA Tech Broker programme is a collaboration-driven innovation scheme that promotes the practical use of space technologies beyond the space sector, strengthens cross-industry partnerships, and supports companies in turning innovative ideas into market-ready solutions.
