Towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) for healthcare – HORIZON-HLTH-2027-03-TOOL-08
The HORIZON-HLTH-2027-03-TOOL-08 – Towards Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) for healthcare call aims to prepare the ground for the next generation of advanced AI models for healthcare and biomedical research. The action will support a better understanding of how frontier AI models can use multimodal health data, including clinical, imaging, laboratory and molecular data, and how AI Factories and other European infrastructures can be leveraged for this purpose.
The project should bring together a broad, multidisciplinary community including healthcare professionals, patients, biomedical researchers, AI developers, data engineers and ethics experts. Key activities include building a pan-European stakeholder community, developing a roadmap for frontier AI models in healthcare, identifying and preparing suitable datasets, addressing privacy and interoperability, and preparing approaches for training and evaluating trustworthy AI models. The action should contribute to safe, ethical and personalised AI-based healthcare, taking into account the European Health Data Space (EHDS), the AI Act and relevant EU initiatives.
The call is a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) with an indicative budget of €2.9 million, expected to fund one project.
The call opens on 3 June 2027 and the deadline is 22 September 2027.
Participation is limited to legal entities established in EU Member States and Horizon Europe Associated Countries, with additional restrictions concerning entities controlled by non-eligible countries.
